Do you remember how much fun you had playing as a child? Do you remember when your parents would play with you? I remember playing tea party with my mother. My dolls all sat in chairs around the table, and my mother and I would serve everone tea and cookies. I also remember that I had a doll buggy, and I would dress my tom cat up in doll clothes and take him for a ride. We had a large front porch on our farm house, and my cousin and I would take turns ordering food through the window while another cousin stood inside taking our order. I rode my bike and horse, played in the hay loft, went fishing with my parent, and played baseball with my brother. I have a lot of great memories from my childhood. Little did I know at the time, I was LEARNING all that I needed to know through play. Play is very important and affects every aspect of development for our growing children. What's your favorite playtime memory from your childhood? How do you like to play with your little one, now? Storytime was "for the birds" in our United Way Success by Six Resource Center this morning! Tasha Ficsher brought her beloved hen "Drumstick" in to teach us all about chickens. Ms. Ficsher shared facts about how egg color and egg size is determined. She identified the different body parts of a chicken and even shared how to tell if Drumstick is feeling friendly or scared. We were mesmerized with Drumstick and learned a lot, too!
